Located in southern Egypt, the Abu Simbel Temple is a stunning piece of history created by Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC. This impressive site has two temples carved into the rock, dedicated to Ramses II and his wife, Nefertari. The main temple is famous for its four huge statues of Ramses II, each over 20 meters high. In the 1960s, these temples were moved to avoid being flooded by Lake Nasser, thanks to UNESCO. The temples are known for their large size and detailed carvings that show Ramses II’s great achievements.
